Events

Werkleitz is always looking for new ways to put media arts firmly in the public eye and therefore regularly revises its presentation formats. The shift from a two-yearly Biennale to a Werkleitz Festival and the creation of the Visiting Artist programme and Videorama platform are recent examples of this. Hence, events differ not only in terms of their thematic content but with regard to their form, venue or time-frame. Events are accordingly conceived as explorations not only of special issues and projects but also of different forms, venues and specific periods.
Werkleitz operates in this regard between the poles of artistic and thematic necessity and the financial constraints of its cultural context. The remit, to broaden public perception not only of various art forms but also of the themes they address requires Werkleitz to keep pace with developments in regional and international art production and integrate them in its programme. Werkleitz accordingly supports and presents artists from abroad as well as those resident in Halle, Saxony-Anhalt or Central Germany, also participates in a range of cooperative artistic ventures and event formats.
