Hans-Otto Brambach (Architekturkreis Halle) and Daniel Herrmann (Werkleitz) are guests in the art history seminar of Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle by Prof. Dr. Nike Bätzner that is focussed on Halle-Neustadt this semester.

During the first two decades after groundbreaking in 1964, Halle-Neustadt was one of the most important international references for modern city planning.

Many documentations and TV programmes of that time show the large construction site and everyday life in the young city. These aimed at demonstrating the historical success of the construction of socialism in the GDR.

In cooperation with Architekturkreis Halle, Werkleitz is showing film clips of film classics in respect of the construction of the New City as well as TV programmes produced by GDR TV stations, which will be discussed afterwards.
