Evidence of Population

Werkleitz celebrates 50 years Halle-Neustadt

June, 15 • 4 pm • Burg Galerie, Volkspark • Schleifweg 8a

Evidence of Population is a collection of items of everyday culture in Halle-Neustadt that has been constantly growing since 2004.

The szenario of a disappearing city and the fact that the number of the first inhabitants of Neustadt and witnesses of the resettlement is decreasing, is reason enough for the project Evidence of Population.

The first presentation of the collection was initiated by the project founders Maike Fraas and Daniel Herrmann in autumn, 2004. Since then many once handy items, photographs and souvenirs of Neustadt have been provided by inhabitants and friends of Neustadt.

In respect of the 50th anniversary of Halle-Neustadt, various items of the collection's stock will be reinterpreted within a 50 day exhibition project.

Maike Fraas, Daniel Herrmann and Benjamin Schief will talk about the history of the collection, they will show former intepretations and they will give an introduction to the current exhibition project.

The reinterpretation of the collection Evidence of Population is supported by Bauverein Halle & Leuna eG.
